My name is Odyssey of Vietnamese nationality. I was born on May 25, 1982 in Palawan, Philippines and have lived in Sydney, Australia since 1983. I am fluent in english and Vietnamese. I love watching all the old movies as these movies taught me values and instilled a sense of humanitarianism in me. To tell you the truth, I've never had any real friends in the course of my life and when I was much younger, I was an extremely disciplined and well-behaved person. Health, Ageing and Community Services are my passions. I wake up everyday ready to face the challenges of life. I love health and healthy living. I am passionate about Australian and Vietnamese foods (too many to describe here) and was a Vegetarian from 2005-2010. I am a person of traditional values and beliefs and don't mind doing things the hard way and place family and human friendships above everything else in life. Although, I am not a perfect person, I do admit that I have made mistakes in this and have learn't from them positively.
I currently work at a public hospital in the Day Surgery Unit as an Administration Officer and thoroughly enjoy the demands and challenges of working with diverse people. I have 7 years experience working in the NSW Public Health System and the work is challenging, demanding, stressful but very rewarding on a human level. My job entails: acknowledging and discharging patients, booking ambulances for patients, sorting and filing medical records, making patient appointments, answering patient enquiries, and working to support medical doctors, nursing, allied health and administration staff.
I have a bachelor S DEGREE IN HEALTH, AGEING AND COMMUNITY SERVICES degree from The University of New England and am currently in my final Trimester of completing my MASTER DEGREE IN INTERNATIONAL HEALTH MANAGEMENT. I am a High Distinction / Distinction average student at University. Next year in 2013, I intend to complete a MASTER'S DEGREE IN PUBLIC HEALTH AND A MASTER'S DEGREE IN HEALTH MANAGEMENT (this is a dual Master's degree course) at The University of New South Wales (UNSW). I envisage to complete a DOCTORATE degree (PhD) further down the track. Life-wise, I thoroughly enjoy the daily challenges of life as I believe challenge is a wonderful and beautiful thing. My ultimate goal is to work in a range of Health Management (policy development and quality management) jobs which will further enable me to make a positive difference to people's lives. The prospect of becoming a Research Scientist is very real to me!
