I'm italian but I've lived in the UK since the age of 16 divorced with two teenage kids. Earthy sort of person with a creative and a little eccentric streak. Single by choice - for the thinnest years of my life - in order to pursue career and raise the kids without running the risk of exposing them to additional failing relationships. I worked for several years as a primary school teacher and I'm now moving on to the field of academic research. Having said that, I'm as much at ease with humbler jobs as I am in what I do, which is for the sake of pursuing a passion...lest anyone should think I inhabit some sort of lofty abode. I treasure my personal space. My home is my sanctuary - especially as I live in chaotic London. Home it's the place where I ensure I find peace and calm at the end of the day. I love travel but I'm no tourist, and have often set off with no particular destination in mind. I love walking in nature, the wilder the better. I love cooking - and I admit I can be a bit of a food snob. But cooking is also a form of art and an alchemy of the senses. The best compliment anyone can give me is to ask me for seconds.

I also enjoy sitting by a warm fire with a good book and a nice cup of tea or an outdoor one (why not), arts and crafts, folklore and everything that is traditional and has a story to tell...with the exception of heavy metal...which brings out the other side of the coin... In the younger years I would have head-banged to the tune of Metallica but as ageing is increasing the risk of whiplash, I've had to calm down and now I only dance the tarantella. I hate the gym but as a form of exercise, I've taken up sword training with a viking history re-enactment group. It allows me to release stress and scream till my heart contents and I come back home a rejuvenated woman :)

I value people who are not afraid to be true to themselves and live without worrying of having something to prove.
