Finding someone is a lot like house hunting. Everyone has a wish list - three bedrooms, walk-in pantry, fenced backyard, etc. Then your agent shows you an improbable house that meets none of your requirements. However, there's a quirky little room off the kitchen that's too small to be good for much, oddly situated. There you are, standing in it, and the afternoon sun is slanting in through the windows all buttery and warm, making everything golden. You envision bookshelves, a comfy chair, a side table for a glass of wine - and suddenly you NEED this house. Never mind the lack of closet space and the horrid carpet; you need the life you imagine for yourself in that room. Finding someone is just like that - any list of "requirements" goes right out the window when you meet the right person.
That being said, a girl's got to have her standards! I managed to weather the global economic collapse without completely destroying my credit score, and it would be nice if you could say the same. Please go to work every day, contribute to your community in some way, and be a great friend, coworker, and parent I can't stress this enough - responsible is sexy. Really. It would be nice if you were also a bit of a smart ass. I do love a funny guy.
Me: I value experiences over possessions, though I do love a killer pair of shoes! I enjoy white wine, dessert for breakfast, and cozy nights in front of the fireplace. I keep up on the world around me...and, quite frankly, am sometimes disgusted. I tend to lean left, but you'll sometimes find me over on the right (and a little shocked to be there!) I do not appreciate drama (please see the "responsible" comment above). Life is full enough of interesting bits without manufacturing more.
I try to exercise most days and eat fairly healthily (with an occasional nose dive into a bag of Doritos). It would be great to find someone who feels the same way, who tries to take care of himself. However, I am very aware of the fact that I am no longer 25 and neither are you. Just be normal about all of that, please.
I'm happy to relax at home, though you will more often find me reading a book than watching TV. I like spending time outdoors, and I usually have some sort of art/craft project going on around the house (i.e., forget about using the dining room table for actual eating). A perfect day is visiting the farmer's market, cooking with friends, then enjoying the meal and some wine with spirited conversation
