The nutshell description:
A somewhat geeky adventurous, tree-dwelling engineer. Inclined toward cuddling with humans and other animals. Slightly nocturnal, but willing to forgo sleep for fresh powder and other important things. Quick to prioritize the needs of others over himself. Overly optimistic, but willing to work to achieve the things he thinks are obtainable. Values established friendships and delights in getting to know new people and learning about their perspectives on life. Amused by mechanical things in need of maintenance and improvement. Loves making candy for people because it so often brings smiles to their faces, and once it is eaten and enjoyed, he can try to make it better the next time.
Now with more detail:
I went to WWU in Bellingham. I was almost finished with a degree in Vehicle Design when I switched to Plastics Engineering. I spent many years working in manufacturing building a variety of things including trucks, boats, computers, printers, airplanes, hovercraft, drones, and kayaks before returning to my family's seasonal candy business in Birch Bay. I enjoy fixing broken things as well as designing and building new devices.
I love books and reading. I mostly stick to nonfiction. I served for over ten years as a trustee on the Upper Skagit Library District board. I am one of the founding members of the Friends Of Birch Bay library group. I think libraries can make a real difference in a community and I am willing to volunteer my time in an effort to give back to my communities.
I enjoy playing with cooking and collaborating in the kitchen to feed myself and others. I enjoy all foods, especially spicy ones and love exploring around for new flavors.
Being in the forest near the water brings me happiness. It is why I call my geodesic dome in the forest on the south bank of the Skagit river near the town of Concrete home even though it is a distance from my business. I hike, bike, play badminton, and pickleball year-round. I sail my boat out of Blaine in the spring and fall. In the off-season for my business, I do my best to utilize my season pass skiing at Mt. Baker. I love road-tripping in my Sprinter van as well as traveling to more far-flung destinations. In 2022 I went to South Padre Island TX for a week to try and learn to wing foil, spent 10 days in London, and did a three-day trip to Quebec City. I spent all of November and part of December on a west coast road trip that included a cruise with friends out of San Diego visiting friends in Tiajuana, family in Phoenix, and getting my van stuck in the desert near Joshua Tree. I capped off 2022 by actually learning to wing foil in Cancun.
The gal I would like to partner with will be Intelligent, capable, caring, and forthright. With a happy, adventuresome spirit. The type of person who likes to collaborate with others and uses her skills to optimize the world around her. Hopefully, we share many interests and she has some new ones to teach me.
