I’m an active visual artist, daily hiker, plant person/ horticulturist, studying Japanese culture through literature, language learning and building a garden room in a Japanese style.
I’m Scottish and lived in the Canadian Arctic for many years before coming to Vancouver Island. I’m old and full of joy of life, disciplined and study the philosophy of Buddhism, Taoism and Shinto. My spirituality is based in the context of natural rhythms and the voice of nature. My children are Inuit and teach indigenous studies and elementary education. I ran a plant nursery for many years here and returned to university to study ecosystem restoration and visual arts. I’d love to visit the more natural places of japan especially Kyushu outside of summer or host a Japanese person here anytime except winter to explore, pursue visual arts or share stories, gardening, cooking or anything of interest. This spring I plan to complete the “Tea room studio”.
I’ll respond to all enquirers without exception.
Mostly I desire to learn Japanese and assist with english in exchange and build friendship.
